This morning, the BBC published an article presenting the facts about the increasing number of cases of eating disorders amongst males in the UK.

We are living in the cyber-age, where many people will post pictures online to find approval and acceptance from strangers. Meanwhile, comparing themselves to…well…everyone. I, too, can put my hands above my head and say I’m guilty of this.

It has been clear to see what affect social media sites have had on the female population, but when it comes to the suffering of men, it tends to be overlooked.

Which is why I have chosen ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ by The Cure as the TOTW.

The 80s tune talks about gender inequality when it comes to being emotional. But let’s be honest, it’s the 21st century, girls aren’t the only people who have feelings. It’s about time we consider the well-being of ALL others and say bye-bye to the pesky stigma that surrounds mental health in males.

Besides the political message, this song is a proper bop.

Boys, cry away…
